Maplin, an electronics retailer, recently teamed up with SignStix to launch its flagship Store of the future in The Beehive Center in Cambridge, U.K. SignStix plans to deploy interactive digital experiences to 20 new stores before the end of 2017, according to a press release.
The store is designed with a variety of digital and multi-touch experiences to guide a customer through the various functions in a home and how they can communicate with each other in a smart home. In the first four months of deployment, the Cambridge Beehive location saw more than 20,000 digital interactions as well as longer customer dwell time, according to the release.
“It’s gone exceptionally well. We are seeing significant like-for-like growth since we relaunched the stores,” Siobhan Fitzpatrick, marketing and multichannel director at Maplin, said in the release. “The customer’s responses have been fantastic; over 70 percent of people who have walked through the doors of Cambridge said this store is significantly better — not just better, but significantly better, and over 90 percent of people think the store is a massive step forward.”
